Where flameproof lighting is used

Flameproof luminaires are fitted in areas where flammable gas or vapour can reach a lamp: oil and gas sites, refineries and petrochemical units, chemical and pharma plants, paint and coating units, fuel stations and depots, power plants, mining installations and dust-prone processing such as grain and flour mills. Choosing a flameproof luminaire

• Area classification. Your site's hazardous-area classification tells you what protection is required. Share it with your enquiry so the certificate and marking can be checked against it.
• Type of fitting. Well glass lights and flood lights suit different mounting and spread. Aviation lights, hand lamps, flashers and clean room lights are for specific jobs.
• Rating. Compare the rating shown for each model with the light level you need, and tell us the area to be lit.
• Cable entry. Fix the luminaire with a suitable flameproof cable gland and close unused entries with a blanking plug. See cable glands and accessories.
